Svalbard

Svalbard is an archipilego administered by Norway about 500 miles from the North Pole. Longyearbyen is the nearest town to the North Pole. It is closer to the North Pole than it is to the Arctic Circle. We visited in 2014 out of curiosity - there's nothing much there except for a museum and some old coal mines. Oh, and polar bears, but we didn't see one. The August high was 43F.
